You often come across the term price base amount (pba) when talking about insurance. For example, the amount of compensation might be shown in the number of price base amounts, rather than in kronor. The level of the price base amount is set by the government once a year. This means that your compensation won’t always be the same amount in kronor as when you took out your insurance but is adjusted in line with price trends.

What’s the difference between the methods of payment?
If you pay by direct debit the money is automatically taken from the account you have registered. You choose whether you want to pay for your insurance once a month, quarter, half-year or year.
The easiest way to register a direct debit and the payment period is via Mina sidor. Log in with your Bank ID and click on Min profil.
If you pay by e-invoice the invoice will be sent to your internet bank electronically. You will then need to authorise each payment before the money is taken from your account. To register payment by e-invoice log in to your bank and select Akademikerförsäkring as the e-invoice supplier. You will then pay per quarter, but you can contact us if you would like a longer payment period.
If you pay by bank transfer you will receive your invoices by post. Each printed invoice costs 35 kronor. You choose the payment period by logging in to Mina sidor. You cannot pay per month if you choose a bank transfer invoice.
Please note: You cannot use both direct debit and e-invoicing. If you register both we will switch to direct debit.

What insurance is included in the basic package?
As a new member you’ll get four kinds of insurance free of charge for three months:
Life insurance amounting to 10 price base amounts (476,000 kr, 2021). The amount is paid out to your family if you die. The people who will receive the money are your spouse/registered partner/cohabitant in the first hand, followed by your heirs. You can decide who will receive the money by writing a beneficiary assignment.
Accident insurance amounting to 40 price base amounts (1,904,000 kr, 2021) provides protection round the clock and compensation for injuries resulting from an accident. The insurance policy compensates you for, among other things, invalidity, medical and dental expenses, travel expenses, extra expenses, disfiguring scars, pain and suffering, rehabilitation and death as the result of an accident. It also provides incapacity compensation if you are unable to work as a result of the accident. The insurance also includes crisis insurance. There are no exclusions for high-risk activities or sports injuries. An infection resulting from a tick bite (TBE or Lyme Disease) is treated as an accidental injury.
Disability insurance 1,400 kr. Even if you’re sick, you still have to pay your bills. An important feature of our disability insurance is that it tops up some of the income you lose if you are off work because of illness for more than three months. Finding yourself in a personal crisis or suffering mental ill health or fatigue syndrome is not strange or unusual. And if you’ve been on sick leave for stress or fatigue it can take time to recover. One way to prevent this is to seek help from a psychologist, conversation therapist or health coach. We help you with this because the disability insurance contains health insurance with measures designed to prevent long periods of sick leave. The insurance also includes rehabilitation if you should become sick for a longer period of time so that you can return to work more quickly.
Incapacity compensation insurance amounting to 10 price base amounts (476, 000 kr, 2021). Incapacity compensation insurance gives you a lump sum if you cannot work due to illness or an accident. Whatever the reason – illness or accident – you will receive extra financial support. The only condition is that you have been off sick for at least 25 percent for at least 36 months during a five-year period. This applies regardless of the reason for your sick leave. This insurance also includes what we call ’event insurance’ which means that you will receive a lump sum if you should develop cancer or have a stroke or heart attack. It also includes expert help and conversation counselling. In addition, you will receive compensation if you are given a medical diagnosis.
How can I change the content in the insurance policies I have been given as a new member?
If you want to make any changes you can do that on the web by logging in to Mina sidor, or you can contact us and we will help you.
I’m a student member. What applies to me?

The offer for students applies to student members of Akademikerförbundet SSR (Union for Professionals), Sveriges Arbetsterapeuter (Swedish Association of Occupational Therapists), DIK (union for culture, communication and the creative sector), Naturvetarna (Swedish Association of Professional Scientists), Sveriges Farmaceuter (union for pharmacists and dispensers), Sveriges Ingenjörer (Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers), Svenska Logopedförbundet (Swedish Association of Speech and Language Pathologists).
Making a Claim
When should I submit a claim?
Send in your claim as soon as you can. You can do this here. Don’t hesitate to use our claims help "skadehjälpen" if you’re not sure what to do.
Who assesses the claim?
The insurance company assesses every claim. They are also responsible for handling and paying out compensation for claims. A number of companies provide insurance we offer: Moderna Försäkringar, Skandia, Svedea and Trygg-Hansa.
I need to use my insurance because something’s happened. What do I do now?
If it’s a personal injury, in other words a physical or psychological injury, you must fill in a claim form.
If your personal property, for example your car, house or boat, has been damaged, contact the insurance company directly.
What happens after I’ve sent in my claim?
The insurance company will send you a letter confirming that they’ve received your claim. The letter will tell you how to contact them if you have any questions or if there is anything you are not sure about.
The insurance company will then decide if you are entitled to compensation and if so, how much. When they have made their decision, they will send you a letter telling you what they have decided. If you are not entitled to compensation the letter will explain the reason and tell you what to do if you are not satisfied with their decision. At Akademikerförsäkring we are always here to support you and you can contact us if you have any questions.
How long will it take before I receive the compensation?
That depends. Any expenses you have had in connection with the loss or damage will be reimbursed quickly. But in the case of more serious personal injuries it can take between one and two years after the injury occurred before you receive compensation. Compensation from a life insurance policy is paid out quickly.
Do I have to fill in a separate claims form for every policy I have with you?
So if I have more policies in other companies, should I send in a claim to all of them?
Yes, you should.
How much time do I have to make a claim?
You should send in your claim as soon as you can. If you are seeking compensation for expenses, this should be done within three years from the time of the event, and an assessment of disability should also be made within three years from the time of the event.
I have no expenses. Should I still report my injury?
It’s always a good idea to send in a claim if you have sought treatment for your injury. If you should have trouble in the future or if the injury doesn’t heal as it should, it’s good if you can show you sought treatment at the time.
Does my insurance entitle me to crisis help?
Several of our insurance policies include crisis insurance, both for you and for your family. You can read more about the terms and conditions for each insurance policy or contact us and we will help you.
My child has suffered an injury. Who should sign the claim form, my child or I?
If your child is under 18, then you the parent should sign the claim form. If your child is over 18 and has mental capacity he or she should sign the form.
